Meat pie with mashed potatoes

  • Beef - 800 g
  • Little bank of tomatoes - 1 pc
  • White wine - 200 ml
  • Vegetable oil - 200 ml
  • Yolk - 1 pc
  • Flour - 2 tbsp.
  • Milk - 1 tbsp.
  • Onions - 1 pc.
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Bay leaf - 1 pc
  • Coriander or parsley - 1 bunch
  • Salt and pepper
  • For mashed potatoes:
  • Potatoes - 1200 g
  • Hot milk - 250 ml
  • Butter - 50 g
  • Nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation. Meat pie with mashed potatoes

Peel the onions and garlic cloves, finely chop them. Put on the pan with vegetable oil, let it heat. Add onion, garlic, bay leaf and a bunch of chopped parsley or coriander. Stew until the onions are soft. Put the tomatoes, sliced ​​meat, white wine and 400 ml of water. Add seasoning, close and simmer for 40 minutes.

Remove from heat, let cool. Remove the meat and cut it very finely. Strain the broth through a sieve, pour to what remains in the pan. Add two tablespoons of flour, previously dissolved in a small amount of water. Boil until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add seasoning and meat. Mix well and set aside.

Peel the potatoes, wash and cut them in half, boil until done. Drain, allow to cool, and mash to puree. Add butter and hot milk. Season with nutmeg, salt and pepper, mix very well.

First put half the mashed potatoes in the baking dish, then the meat and cover with the remaining mashed potatoes. Smooth, grease with egg yolk, whipped with milk. Bake in the oven until golden brown.

Serve hot or cold with salad.
